LIBERIA

A post-conflict country billed as the rising star of West Africa, Liberia under the reformist government of president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has made great strides in stabilizing the country both politically and economically. Pre-war Liberia was one of Africa’s great success stories modern and relatively prosperous. Today, the country is recovering from a war that destroyed virtually its entire infrastructure. President Sirleaf has placed foreign investment front and center as part of her national development strategy.

Liberia is richly endowed with natural and mineral resources including, iron ore, diamonds and timber. It is also considered one of the last frontiers in terms of minerals prospecting with strong indications that substantial reserves of a number of key minerals will be discovered. The country offers multiple opportunities in virtually all sectors of its economy. Some of the key sectors in, which we see value include:

  • Agriculture
  • Infrastructure (Airports, ports and roads)
  • Power generation
  • Mining (Particularly early stage mining opportunities)
